Well we are now well into the 3rd month of the year and as per usual I have little to show for it apart from a pottier belly and a few scratches. Ultimately, I am no wiser, no wittier and certainly no richer than I was 4 months ago. So, this month I set out to do something I have thought about doing for years but have never got round to actually doing it. I made my own pincushion! Lame and simple I know, but I've just always wanted to do it and now I actually have! The last post was from my phone and did show a decent picture of my new creation, but the wrong way up. Don't know why it does that, cos it looks correct on my phone, but when I check it on a computer, it's wrong.
Anyway, I'm babbling (nothing unusual there then!), I managed to find the pincushion I chose to do online at The Little House by the Sea's blog and the page can be found here. That's what the picture is, this time the correct way up. My first homemade pincushion. And I love it!!! I got a bit of a taste for it then. Decided to make this one from a template uploaded to Burda Style. I had a bit of a problem with this one as it didn't turn out how I would have liked it to. I did it in lemon yellow and emerald green. Doubt I'll be trying that again. Ooops!
After a bit of a search about online I found loads (and I mean loads) of possible templates, patterns and tutorials both easy and more difficult that were all brilliant and would make great pincushions. Then I came across this little number from Paper, String, Cloth. And I simple fell in love with the idea. As I had already made my toadstool pincushion in felt and had some other bits left over I decided to take the idea and do something similar but different with it.
Hence here is mine!
Gorgeous don't you think? A little bit fiddly with the buttons, but I like it. In fact I liked it that much when I made it that I created another one, with a slightly different twist on it.
This one is made with a blanket stitch around the outside as opposed to basic stitching and then turning right way. Oh and I added a small ribbon loop to grab on to. It's my intention to pop the pincushion into a 'sewing caddy' I created out of an old pair of jeans, I'll pop the details of that up as soon as I can!
Sorry the photos are brilliant, I'm only using my phone at the moment, I shall get some better ones taken with the camera.
